"Thank you!" to Our Satisified Preferred Care Gold Members!
The quality of the services we provide is measured in many ways. We want to share with you the results of two such quality measurement tools:
- The Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS®), which is a tool used by health plans to evaluate their performance in terms of clinical quality and customer service, and
- The Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS®) survey, which is sent to Preferred Care members every year to ask your opinion about your health care experience with your doctors and Preferred Care.
For some of the key measures from our 2007 HEDIS results (based on the 2006 performance year), our rates continue to rank higher than the national averages for Medicare plans:

Your satisfaction with Preferred Care and the health care professionals we contract with is also important to us. Each year some of you receive the Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS®) survey. This is conducted by an independent third party and the results are given to Preferred Care and Medicare.
We’re also proud that in 2007 (based on the 2006 performance year), Gold members who answered the CAHPS® survey rated Preferred Care significantly higher than New York State health plans averages in these areas:
