Causes of back pain can be very complex and getting an accurate diagnosis can be difficult. An accurate diagnosis will determine the type of treatment you may receive.
Get a physical from your Primary Care Physician and describe your symptoms including when they started, what you feel the cause of the pain was and what makes the pain worse.

Your physician may order home treatment such as ice, heat or exercises. He or she may recommend that you start physical therapy or refer you to a specialist.

Sometimes, despite all the testing that may be done often there is no anatomical reason that can account for your back pain. But the pain is real and still needs treatment.

Follow through with your physician's recommendations. Be proactive in your approach for an accurate diagnosis even if an accurate diagnosis may be difficult to obtain it can help determine the path your recovery will take.
