Medicine Bag Review
Presented by the Preferred Care Wellness Center along with Wegmans Pharmacy
Did you know that taking four or more prescription drugs can increase your risk of drug interactions? Preferred Care cares about protecting your health, which is why we have partnered with Wegmans Pharmacy since 1999 on the Medicine Bag Review. This program offers an excellent opportunity to talk one-on-one with a licensed pharmacist, who will:
- Review all your medications, including prescription drugs, over-the-counter medications, vitamin/mineral supplements, herbal remedies and more.
- Look for potential drug-to-drug and drug-to-disease interactions, and make sure that a particular drug is not being dispensed in too high (or low) a dose.
- Answer questions about your medications and how you take them in a way that's easy to understand.
- Provide a copy of the medication review to you and a copy to your physician.
This program is offered free to Preferred Care Gold members. You do not have to be a Wegmans or Wegmans Pharmacy customer to attend. Check the following schedule for locations and call the number below for a reservation!

Vial for Life Health Safety Program
for Medicine Bag Review Participants
It’s not easy to think about the “what-if”s” of a medical emergency. By participating in the “Vial for Life” program, though, it’s easy to be better prepared for an emergency, for greater peace of mind. Preferred Care is a proud sponsor of the community-wide Vial for Life health safety program, together with Wegmans Pharmacy.
The Vial for Life program is available to Preferred Care members who participate in the
Medicine Bag Review.
What is the Vial for Life?
The Vial for Life is a small tube that you store in your refrigerator. Inside the tube is a medical form that includes important information, such as the name and phone number of your doctor, the medications you are taking, any allergies you may have, and any special care you may need.
How is the Vial for Life Used?
- In the event of an emergency, the Vial for Life provides a quick and easy way for Emergency Medical System (EMS) staff to get important medical information about you if you are unable to communicate or become unconscious, so that you can be properly treated.
- The Vial for Life also is helpful when you travel. Simply put it in your purse, suitcase or tote bag, and use a luggage tag to let emergency staff know where to find your Vial. It is similar to wearing a medical alert neck chain or bracelet.
