How to Order Prescriptions by Mail

Preferred Care wants to make it more convenient for you to get the medicine you need to live a healthier life. Our pharmacy benefits manager, Medco, makes it simple and easy to order prescriptions by mail!

To order a prescription from Medco:

1. Complete a Medco Patient Profile Questionnaire the first time you use the mail order program and anytime there is a change in your health or prescription history. This helps protect you against potential drug interactions or medical complications.

2. Complete a Medco Mail Order Form and special mailing envelope provided by Medco.

3. Mail your prescription and Patient Profile Questionnaire along with payment (check, money order, or credit card*) in the special mailing envelope to Medco.

4. Once your Patient Profile Questionnaire has been received by Medco, you can order refills on or after the refill date indicated on the refill slip or on your medication container, or if you have less than 14 days of medication left. Refills may be ordered by calling Medco's special refill number 1-800-4REFILL (1-800-473-3455), by mailing the refill order forms provided with your medication, or by logging in to the Medco Pharmacy Services Web site for Preferred Care customers.

All of the forms you need are available from Medco.

•  The Patient Profile Questionnaire and prescription mail order forms are available when you log in to the Medco Pharmacy Services Web site for Preferred Care customers.

•  You also may request forms and information by calling the Medco Pharmacy Member Service team at 1-800-233-7063.

TTY users please call 1-800-759-1089.

*If you pay by check or money order and your payment isn't sufficient for some reason, Medco will bill you. Note that Medco only offers up to a $100 credit limit on the purchase of your prescriptions; orders that exceed this credit limit may be separated until payment is received. Members may use a credit card to purchase orders and thereby avoid any potential delays in shipment.

Prescriptions are processed within 48 hours of receipt. For prescriptions ordered by mail please allow 7-11 days for turnaround time until you receive your prescription. If you reorder online or by phone, please allow 5-8 days for delivery.
